The Soundtrack to My Life (No. 2)

Heyyyyy! I’m assuming you’ve read the first post of this series.

If you haven’t, check it out here.

Welcome back to this little series I have! A lot has happened since I last wrote for my blog, so I figured I would document some new (and old) memories in this post, through music. Again, these are real memories and people I think of, every time I hear these specific songs.

To those that have been featured (and now engrained in my memory, haha):

I am so thankful to be reminded of you through music.

Let’s chat about the soundtrack to my life (No. 2).

shot on Canon EF with 400tx film

The song that me and my three sisters—Chi Mi, Meagan, and Leilani—know all the lyrics to and terribly performed with in front of my entire family + extended family at my parents’ 20th anniversary party:

“No Scrubs” by TLC

The song that Pauline and I were singing when Omar caught us completely off guard, performing a whole ass makeshift concert for a nonexistent audience in the living room:

“Dilemma” by Nelly and Kelly Rowland

The song that was performed live at the Emotional Oranges concert where Kaitlin and I shouted “SUNDAYS!! WITH!! YOU!! ARE!! SPECIAL!!” with our new friends—Jessica, Julie, and Angelica—we made that night:

“Sundays” by Emotional Oranges

The song that Nico and I sang together and laughed about in Greece, after discussing “terrible songs to play at your wedding":

“I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2

The song that Chi Mi WOULD NOT (I mean seriously, would NOT) stop playing on repeat for 8-9 days on the cruise. She played it every waking moment we had…not to mention the both of us walked around the entire 10th floor of the cruise ship blasting this song in the hallways at 3 in the morning one night. We promised we would memorize all the lyrics…but we came out of that trip with me having memorized the same one line and her…maybe 1.5 lines at most:

“Pepas” by Farruko

The song that Pauline and I sang every. single. lyric to at the bar in Italy, vibin’ on the most perfect buzz after a few drinks:

"Smokin Out The Window" by Silk Sonic

The song I heard in the middle of a park in Rome, where I laid in the grass, soaking in the warm sun while falling more in love with this city (which, by the way, was so fitting for this most picturesque moment):

"Here Comes The Sun" by The Beatles

The song that played when I could not stop laughing my ass off on a cruise we were on, because I found my sister Chi Mi and an old granny grinding on each other in the center of a dance circle, smack dab in the middle of the club:

“Hotel Room Service” by Pitbull

The song that plays every single time I find myself dancing with my friend Valentina:

“Dancing Queen” by ABBA

The song that I would always find Vladimir dancing and singing to while working behind the bar at Koo Club in Santorini:

“Drogba (Joanna)” by Afro B

We’ve reached the end of part two.

I have linked all the songs for you to get a better image and feel of the memory being shared. And yes, all the song links are through Spotify… If you don’t use Spotify, we’re going to have to have a conversation about that another time.

I will never get tired of rolling through memory lane. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did writing it, and maybe some of these songs triggered some nostalgia for you, too :’)

Thank you for tuning into this series! It means the world to me.
